WELCOME TO ISSUE 31…

As we enter into the cold winter months, this issue is dedicated to music and all it has brought to Covent Garden past, present and future – it has and always will be the perfect escape.

Our cover artist David Hughes, is one of Britain’s leading illustrators, his intense style is instantly recognisable, always thoughtful, sometimes gritty and often disturbing… David has a wicked sense of humour, when music connoisseur and journalist Al Farquhar asked for his take on his ability to upset people, David happily sang like a songbird, “that’s our job”… Read more about David’s illustrious career on p10.

We hear from Mick O’Hare about a veritable symphony of composers who were so attracted to the neighbourhood that they then called it home, from Thomas Arne and Ivor Novello to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Our regular columns Shopping & Local Knowledge have a fantastic selection of all things musical to buy and try.
And Do in The Day includes jazz at Ronnie Scotts and popping into The Marquis pub in Chandos Place who have a collection of 1,000 records to request and a staggering archive of 5,000 LPs and 45”s.

We have with great gusto started planning the next Cover Competition for our sister magazine The Mayfarer out in Spring 2024 p18. Our friends at Jack Barclay, Bentley, Mayfair will be hosting the launch party and exhibiting the winners and runners up artworks in their showroom for all of London to see. Full details will appear in the Spring 2024 issue of The Mayfarer out in March.

Our focus is always on artists and writers, creativity and community, we are incredibly passionate about print and our beautifully curated and fully commissioned publications. As we enter our ninth year with three independent and two contract publications under our belt we would like you to join us in raising a toast to Piero Publishing.
