We are thrilled to present our latest issue, celebrating the diverse landscape of education intertwined with the vibrant history of Covent Garden. This issue is particularly special as we proudly partner with the London Transport Museum, a cornerstone of our community. Our collaboration extends beyond these pages – recently CEO of the LTM Elizabeth McKay (photographed with me below) visited St. George’s Primary School in Mayfair to share the LTM’s exciting new music programme, bringing Covent Garden’s rich cultural heritage to young minds. Gracing our cover is an exclusive piece by the self-taught maestro, Uli Gassmann. Renowned for his residency at Yves Saint Laurent’s Jardin Majorelle and his captivating depictions of the designer’s residences, Uli has now turned his brush to our beloved Piazza, capturing its essence in a way only he can.

Delving into the piazza’s architectural roots, Mick O’Hare offers an insightful article on Inigo Jones’s journey to Rome, where he immersed himself in the teachings of the great masters. This narrative beautifully complements our feature on our visit to Rome University of Fine Arts (RUFA), highlighting the enduring bond between our locale and the world of academia.

As we commemorate the 250th anniversary of J.M.W. Turner’s birth, we’re excited to announce a grand celebration at The Porterhouse. Esteemed cartographer Adam Dant is crafting an extraordinary 10ft x 10ft map detailing Turner’s life, set to be unveiled on the terrace on May 14th 2025. And for those with a penchant for unique brews, stay tuned for news about a special beer we’re concocting in Turner’s honour.

In Hidden in Plain Sight, we shine a light on the tour guides who bring Covent Garden’s stories to life. A special nod goes to the Westminster and Blue Badge guides, whose tales never fail to amuse and enlighten.
