WELCOME TO ISSUE 20
After an absence of six months, we are back with a very special Festive Issue of The Covent Gardener. Not only have we run a competition to find our cover artist, we have also worked with some of the finest designers, creatives and institutions in the land to realise this publication. We have been totally overwhelmed by the number and quality of the entries, all of which you will see illustrated inside. We worked with a panel of nine incredible judges to find our winner – Alberto Casagrande – and the worthy runners-up, whose work you will see throughout the pages of the magazine.
We have been astounded by the constant support from local businesses, the community, our contributors and friends who make up the Covent Gardener family. Your feedback and love of Covent Garden has propped us up during this incredibly difficult time and shown us how important The Covent Gardener is, and just how much the spirit of entertainment thrives throughout our beautiful neighbourhood.
Even when the streets were completely empty and the performers stayed home, we knew you were there.
It spurred us on to bring you a bumper issue which includes eight pages of festive shopping, whimsical tales of yore, stories on how Covent Garden has risen from the ashes in the past, both with its buildings and theatres, and our insider knowledge continues to bring you our regular columns: Local Services, Diary Dates, Back in The Day, Essential Services and Restaurants…
As we always like to celebrate Covent Garden’s past, present and future, we are delighted to welcome the NoMad hotel opening in December on the historic site of the Bow Street Magistrates’ Court.
We look forward to seeing you in a socially distanced way in Covent Garden over the festive season.
